2008 – The International Year of the Potato

No, I’m not joking!

According to the United Nations, 2008 is the International Year of the Potato, and it even has its own website – http://www.potato2008.org/. The BBC News website has a rather nice photo gallery on potatoes at the moment.

Lots of potatoes! (BBC)

Perhaps they could have Mike Oldfield’s Tuber-lal Bells as the signature tune ?

  1. Tuber-la bells? Gawrsh, someone as awful with puns as I am… that’s a scary thought. (-:

Wondering if they have derivative chip festivals, mash meetings, baked SIGs or anything related (sweet ‘tater a la Kiwiland, fish to go with chips, a day of famine after Ireland’s little issue, etc)?

  2. We aim to please! 🙂

Perhaps we should keep our eyes peeled for celebrations via a mash-up website ? That way when the chips are down we don’t need to root around to find one..

    I’ll get me coat.
