Happy birthday to my lovely wife! 🙂
I don’t know how many folks have spotted this, but on the Linux NFSv4 list last night there was a posting about the fact that they’ve had to obtain written permission from Sun in order to post interoperability testing results!
The Solaris Operating System – Software License Agreement which claims to govern your use of Solaris 10 says:
(f) You may not publish or provide the results of any benchmark or comparison tests run on Software to any third party without the prior written consent of Sun.
Can anyone from Sun confirm/deny that this applies to the “free” Solaris 10 as well ? Because personally I think this sort of licensing agreement sounds like they don’t want people to find out how it really performs, which sends absolutely the wrong message!
First off, Andrew has got it in one – Linux Weekly News (LWN) is (IMHO) the best Linux publication. I’ve been a subscriber for 3 years or so now, and it’s worth the tiny cost many times over just for their kernel development coverage. But they need subscribers to keep going, and so here is my plea to you who like to use Linux.
Do it now. Do not think. Do it before it is too late.
RIP Ronnie Barker, 1929-2005. Growing up in the UK my parents loved The Two Ronnies and Porridge and it kind of rubbed off. Anyone who knows me and my awful puns can attest to that. 🙂
The search for the man who terrorizes nudist camps with a bacon slicer goes on. Inspector Lemuel Jones had a tip-off this morning, but hopes to be back on duty tomorrow
So, Ronnie, goodnight, have a good rest and thanks for the laughs!
Now here’s somewhere where technology really does help people, communication for those with total paralysis, including where even blinking isn’t possible, by monitoring blood flow in the brain. It has an 80% accuracy rate – but as they say, that’s way better than the current 0% accuracy!
Just had an email from BBC saying:
At least nine people are killed in explosions on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, BBC correspondent reports.
The article on the BBC is reporting the AP saying that two people are reported dead.
Fortunately I’ve had an SMS from my friend in Bali saying he and his family are safe, they’d actually just moved up the coast from Kuta.
ABC news is reporting three explosions in Bali two in Jimbaran and one in Kuta.
I’ve got a friend and his family on holiday in Bali at the moment, I hope they’re OK..
Q: When can you get blood out of a stone ?
A: When it’s from a 20 million year old spider trapped in a piece of amber!
The scientist from Manchester is now wondering whether he can extract DNA from the blood.
