seminar to “address general OSS issues with a focus on Linux based operating systems and applications” on February 18th 2003 at the National Press Club in Canberra.

It’s fully booked already and the speakers include the AUUG, IBM and, er, Microsoft. Presumably they’ll be touting their “Shared Source” model (Leon Brooks has written
an interesting comparison of Shared Source and Open Source which is well worth a read, especially for the awkward questions for Microsoft at the end).

Interestingly, the Canberra chapter of the AUUG is holding their own
Unix and Open Source in Government technical symposium on March 1st 2003 at ANU.
Interestingly Sun Microsystems are not speaking at the seminar and
are complaining about being snubbed, according to the AustralianIT.
