Large Aftershock (5.9) in Nias

Posted on April 7, 2005 by Chris Samuel

I’ve just had an email from the USGS saying there has been a Magnitude 5.9 earthquake in the Nias region of Indonesia within the last hour.

It looks like yet another in a long series of hefty aftershocks that are happening as the faults in the area “unzip” after the massive quake nearby on Boxing Day.
